Changes to reading mode
July 17, 2020
After testing the Note Reading Trainer for the last few weeks I have decided to change the way the reading mode works.
From now on, there are fewer options to choose from as there is only one button per note regardless of the octave (meaning you'll have to click on 'C', no matter if it's the first, second or third 'C' that's displayed on the staff). This is because it is very easy to see which octave the note belongs to and because it was easy to to guess the correct note by comparing the distances of the notes on the staff to the distances between the buttons.
There will be more changes in the future. At this point though, I don't know what will change.
What I can say is that I want to introduce difficulty levels. Especially the interval reading mode is way to difficult. For me at least (if you check my scores since I implemented the changes on July 14 you'll see what I mean). I recently read that not all the intervals are equally common in music. A distribution of the frequency of occurence of the intervals could be interesting for the introduction of difficulty levels.
